SiteGround is one of the most popular providers for shared hosting – and one of my favorite ones. But they offer much more than shared hosting: cloud hosting, enterprise hosting  and even hosting plans optimized for WordPress, Joomla or WooCommerce.

So you are probably wondering: What hosting plan should I get?

Let’s then find out what exactly SiteGround offers and how much each plan is.

* Your hosting plan will renew at the standard rate. See the details below!

SiteGround hosting plans in detail

SiteGround offers several types of hosting. Let’s check the prices for each type of hosting individually.

SiteGround Shared hosting cost

Shared hosting is the most common type of hosting out there. It’s probably the one you should be using, unless your site is really big or has special technological requirements.

The StartUp plan costs $17.99 a month for 10GB of storage (only 1 website allowed). GrowBig is $29.99 and comes with 20 GB of storage & more backup options.

The GoGeek tier is $44.99 and has 40 GB of storage and advanced features (e.g. Git). SiteGround doesn’t limit the traffic your site can get.

To be fair, they are not the cheapest provider but they offer many cool features – quality comes at a price.

Be aware that the full amount of the contract will be requested in advance. In other words, if you purchase SiteGround for 36 months, you'll have to pay '36 x monthly price' in advanced.

Sidenote: In my experience, SiteGround offers one of the best shared hosting services in the market – a combination of friendly support and good performance. I use them for a bunch of personal projects.

SiteGround’s StartUp plan is most suitable for those looking to host only 1 project, but need a high-performance hosting service. It’s pretty cool that the traffic isn’t limited and SiteGround is generous enough with the storage – 10 GB. If you need to create backups on-demand, you should upgrade as this plan doesn’t include this premium feature. However, they will keep 30 backups (the last 30 days), so you can always ask to restore to a previous version of your site if you have an emergency (e.g. a plugin update wrecks your website). This plan comes with both static and dynamic content caching.

If you upgrade to the GrowBig plan, you’ll have access to on-demand backups. Your storage will be now 20 GB (with unlimited traffic too) and you can have unlimited sites hosted. This plan also comes with a WordPress staging environment, so you can test your site before pushing updates or new code. The middle SiteGround tier comes with Ultrafast PHP – that will make your site load faster (which is really important).

The GoGeek package comes with 40 GB of space (unlimited traffic too) and unlimited sites. It also comes with access to Git repositories. You will also get granted priority advanced support.

SiteGround cloud hosting plans

In recent years the cloud hosting solutions have boomed. These allow you to have a network of servers interconnected as a hosting solution.

The main benefits of cloud hosting are performance and scalability – if you need more resources you just add more hosting capabilities to your configuration.

But of course, they tend to be more expensive than shared hosting. Let’s check SiteGround’s cloud plans.

Features Entry Business Business Plus Super Power
Storage 30 GB 60 GB 80 GB 120 GB
Bandwidth 5 TB 5 TB 5 TB 5 TB
CPU cores 2 3 4 8

Price for 1 year (after renewal) $80 a month $120 a month $160 a month $240 a month

SiteGround’s cloud hosting plans come with all the advanced features like the staging area, static and dynamic caching features, git repo creation and more.

WordPress optimized hosting

Around 30% of the internet is powered by WordPress, so many of us are looking for hosting solutions optimized for this CMS who will make our lives easier.

SiteGround WordPress features

SiteGround offers hosting plans especially engineered for WordPress (and WooCommerce) projects. They have several WordPress focused features:

  • WordPress 1-click installations and starter plugin for beginners
  • WordPress and plugins auto-updates
  • A speed-optimization plugin for WordPress sites
  • A staging area to test new code and updates
  • Easy-to-use migration plugin
  • Knowledgeable WordPress support team

Sidenote: Be aware that not all of these features are included in all plans. Check the shared hosting table above for more information.

The prices for these plans are the same as the shared hosting prices:

  • StartUp: $17.99 a month for 10 GB of storage, unlimited traffic and 1 website allowed. Dynamic and static caching allowed.
  • GrowBig: $29.99 a month for 20 GB of storage, unlimited traffic, unlimited websites and Ultrafast PHP. Unlimited sites allowed.
  • GoGeek: $44.99 a month for 40 GB of storage, unlimited traffic, unlimited websites and client management tools. Unlimited sites allowed.

SiteGround domain prices

SiteGround’s main focus is the hosting business. However, they also offer domain names. I have to say that there are cheaper alternatives out there – like Namecheap. Their plans don't include a domain name, you'll be asked to pay for it separately.

SiteGround domain name cost

For example, a .com domain name will cost you $15.95 per year, a .net domain is $17.95 yearly and a .co.uk domain name costs $19.95 a year.

Let’s check the main domain name prices:

Domain name extension Price per year
.com $15.95
.net $17.95
.org $17.95
.biz $17.95
.info $17.95
.co.uk $19.95
.co.nz $29.95
.com.au $29.95
.xyx $12.95
.club $14.95
.guru $25.95

Enabling privacy protection for your domain name (none of your data will be publicly available) has an extra cost of $1 a month.

SiteGround Pricing – Final thoughts

It’s clear that SiteGround isn’t the cheapest provider (there are plenty of cheaper web hosting services), so you’ll need some budget to host your project with them. Especially if you’d like to get all the bells and whistles of the GoGeek plan (e.g. staging area).

However, SiteGround is one of the few providers that offer excellent performance and responsive support. On top of that, I like to know that if my project grows like crazy, they have (larger) solutions I could use (e.g. cloud and enterprise hosting).

In my opinion, the following projects are a good match for SiteGround:

  • Bloggers with (some) success
  • Sites powered by WordPress, Drupal, Joomla or Magento
  • Online stores that need a reliable hosting provider
  • Design agencies and site developers
  • Businesses that require a professional hosting service
  • Professionals looking to resell hosting
  • Anyone that needs a high-performance hosting service

SiteGround Pricing FAQ

Well done, you must have a very big (and successful) site. SiteGround also offers custom-made solutions to accommodate projects like yours.

They will examine your needs and then design the best infrastructure for you. I am sure this is an expensive way to go though.

Sadly they don’t offer email-only hosting plans. I’d say Namecheap (simple solution) or Google Workspace (more advanced) are better alternatives for this. But if you wanted, you could get one of their shared hosting plans and use it as your email hosting.

All SiteGround plans include the free SiteGround CDN, which includes up to 10GB bandwidth. If you need more you can upgrade to the paid version for $14.99 / month (discounts for yearly plans available). An alternative is Cloudflare, which is nicely integrated in the SiteGround dashboard. There even the free plan doesn’t have any bandwidth limitation and offers more optimization options.

There aren’t many unexpected fees with SiteGround. The only one I can think of is the setup fee ($14.95 – $24.95) for users looking to get a monthly trial hosting plan.

Sure, you have 30 days to trial SiteGround and see if you like it. If you decide not to go ahead, you can request a cancelation (within the 30 days) and you’ll get your money back – no questions asked.

You can use SiteGround’s WordPress migration plugin for free. But if you’d like SiteGround to help you with the migration, you’ll be requested to pay $30.

Canceling your hosting account is super easy with SiteGround. Just head to ‘Service’ and then click on 3 dots of the hosting lan you’d like to cancel and select ‘Cancel’.

How to cancel a SiteGround account

You can request an immediate cancelation, this means that your account will be disabled immediately or cancel the plan once it expires you can also choose a cancelation upon expiration.
